Guangzhou Weather

Located in sub-tropical area, the climate in Guangzhou is quite warm during the whole year. The average year-round temperature is 23℃.  August is the hottest month, with an average temperature of 30℃, but with a high of up to 40℃ in the day and 28℃ at night.  January is the coldest month, with an average of 13℃, although it can drop to around 0℃.  The weather is generally quite humid (often around 80-90% or more) so the heat can feel more oppressive, and the cold more pervasive.  The rainy season falls between April and August.  Average annual rainfall is 1,720 mm, and an umbrella is a must.

1. By Taxi:

When you walk out of the airport lobby, you will see taxi cabs waiting for passengers in Zone A and Zone B. Taxi pick-up point in Zone A is located at Gate No.9, while that of Zone B lies in Gate No.12.

2. By Shuttle Buses:

Two kinds of shuttle buses are available outside the airport lobby, one is Konggang Express and the other is Airport Express. Visitors can easily access to downtown Guangzhou and other cities in Pearl River Delta Region.

-Metro

There are 10 lines in the city.  The network covers much of the city center.  Most of the signs and announcements are also in English.  Tickets are bought from vending machines in the stations.  Multi-Pass and Yang-Cheng-Tong are accepted and can be purchased at the customer service counter.  Here is the Guangzhou Metro Maps:

-Bus

There is also a comprehensive public bus service that covers Guangzhou from end to end.  By far, it is the cheapest way to move around. There are also 3 tourist bus lines, passing through many scenic spots in the city.

-Taxi

Taking taxi is the most common and convenient way for transportation in Guangzhou.  There are 18,000 taxi cabs and 36,000 taxi drivers in the city.  Guangzhou Taxi Service has general fare starting from RMB 10.00 for the first 2.5 kilometers, the fare increases by RMB 2.60 for every next kilometer.  It takes about 40 minutes and charges around RMB 130 from airport to downtown Guangzhou by taxi.

As you call a taxi cab in Guangzhou, you shouldn't bother about language problem.  Guangzhou Traffic Department has indicated all the bus stops and bus stations in English and trained the taxi drivers to speak basic English.  Visitors from all over the world can easily access to Guangzhou's major tourist attractions and commercial centers by taxi with simple English.  Don't know the Chinese?  Not a problem!

Metro Line 8 passes Canton Fair Complex.  Take metro from Exit A of Metro Xingang Dong Station to Area A of the fair complex.

From Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to Canton Fair Complex

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport enjoys a great transportation network.  It takes only 20 minutes to drive along the Airport Express Way from downtown to the Airport.  Taxi should be the most convenient, and yet more expensive, way to go to the airport.  On-call Taxi service: 96900.
